R&D Innovation

We are the only probiotics supplier with a specialized health and nutrition R&D center. Our strong R&D team covers various parts of the world.

The Health & Nutrition Research Center in Finland can simulate the intestinal environment of humans, and track and study the real performance of probiotics and prebiotics in the digestive tract of humans. Our R&D center in the USA is focused on research and the practice for manufacturing technology, genomics and microbiology, and stability of products, while in Denmark, DuPont’s scientists focus on analytical and metabolomic clinical studies.

In order to accelerate the scientific research process, we have set up a probiotics plant in the Asia-Pacific region. DuPont Nutrition and Health, with its R&D center in Shanghai, owns the most local clinically proven probiotics in the region. It boasts application labs for dairy products, ice creams, meats, beverages and baking products. In addition to a basic lab for strains, there is a strains application and development lab and a phage-testing lab, as well as services and support related to applied technologies and regulations, which are used to meet the personalized needs of local customers.

In the “List of Culture Strains Permitted for Use in Infant and Toddler Food” issued by the Chinese Ministry of Health, a total of nine strains have been approved, and HOWARU® probiotics accounts for four of them.

Our R&D center in Shanghai boasts application labs for dairy products, ice creams, meats, beverages and baking products. In addition to a basic lab for strains, there is a strains application and development lab and a phage testing lab, as well as services and support related to applied technologies and regulations, which are used to meet the personalized needs of local customers.
